- I am really looking forward to meet the you, was the salute to the future ISFiT participants. In tonights election at Studentersamfundet the majority voted Trygve Thorson (23) from Hemsedal as the next President of ISFiT with 118 votes to 79 in the Grand Hall at Studentersamfundet.

The ISFiT 2009 President Trygve Thorson has chosen peace building as the theme for ISFiT 2009, and wishes to return to ISFiTs roots as the 10th ISFiT kicks off in 2009. -ISFiT is a brilliant arena for building peace, and I believe this is what ISFiT is really about. As former Head of Concerts in ISFiT 2007 he has experience form the organization, and is really exited to get going.

The main theme is how do we best build peace? From who can we learn and how? Is there any point in peace building? Does the UN work as intended? With experience from several organizations, among them Children's International Summer Village (CISV) and NUPI he will certainly bring ideas to ISFiT that will make ISFiT 2009 a great festival.

The election was kicked off by a movie made by Student-TV featuring clips from ISFiT 2007 accompanied by current President Martin Svarva's musical performance from the closing ceremony. In his speech to the two candidates he pointed to the fact that as ISFiT is a non-static organization, they are free to create as fantastic a festival as ISFiT 2007 has been.

Ane Sande (23) went to election with ethics as main topic, who do we prioritize with our choices? The candidates provided a very exiting election, of which no one could decide from the debates who would win, and it was with surprise Thorson realized he had won.

Some parts of the questioning of the candidates proved to be very hard to answer, and although it revealed areas the candidates were less prepared for, it may have given them some ideas and new input to take into ISFiT 2009. Apart from the thematic and critical questioning and suggestions, the candidates faced both the challenge of performing their opening ceremony speech and singing a song of their choice. Something that may not be relevant to their abilities as leaders, but it certainly is a display of ability to improvise and have a laugh at oneself, and that will be needed when ISFiT goes off in 2009.
